The mountain range in Gorski Kotar is over 1500 m high and is situated north of Rijeka. Mount Velebit on east is over 1700m high and makes an impressive background of the entire region.

There are many ski-resorts in Gorski Kotar, all with good snow conditions and the most outstanding is Platak - just 26 km away from Rijeka!
And that is just a piece of a much bigger ski-sports offer in the region's many resorts.
Let's not forget-snowboarding or skiing in Croatia is still a much more favourable than in nearby Austria.
